“Un libro al mese che c’entri con armadi, vestiti, stoffe e tinture... un saggio o un romanzo, a seconda della tua ispirazione... puoi consigliarmelo?”.
Questa è stata la richiesta che ho avanzato a Ludovica – meravigliosa libraia de Le Notti Bianche e mia vicina di negozio – qualche settimana fa, nel pieno dei preparativi per l’apertura della mia Antina.
Mi piaceva l’idea di accompagnare la vendita dei vestiti con qualche spunto di approfondimento. E Ludovica ha raccolto l’invito consigliandomi di esplorare l'“Atlante degli abiti smessi” di Elvira Seminara.
Un ottimo inizio.
Un condensato di #paroledistoffa morbide al tatto, dolci al gusto (con quella punta di acido che fa apprezzare lo zucchero sotto i denti) e avvolgenti all’olfatto. Intense.
Nel libro ci sono una quantità smisurata di vestiti, tutti conservati – con criterio e attenzione – nell’armadio di Eleonora, donna e madre che, ad un certo punto della sua vita, decide di abbandonare Firenze per rifugiarsi a Parigi, già vissuta da lei qualche anno prima.
A Parigi Eleonora affitta un piccolo appartamento sopra un parco, da cui osserva con interesse l’avvicendarsi delle persone, dei rituali e delle stagioni.
Nelle sue giornate poi molto tempo è dedicato alla compilazione di un dettagliato inventario - destinato alla figlia, con cui Eleonora desidera ardentemente ricostruire un rapporto - dei vestiti e degli accessori lasciati a Firenze.
E da quanto scrive, Eleonora deve averne davvero di tutti i tipi: abiti azzurri o con le tasche cucite, abiti impostori o del perdono, abiti troppo sinceri o che ricordano troppo.
Quello che ne viene fuori, così, è un elenco che è anche un racconto, che è anche un diario intimo e una dichiarazione d’amore, che è anche una guida. Una lente con cui guardare ai vestiti in modo diverso, nuovo.
Io ne sono rimasta affascinata.
Da quando ho finito di leggere questo libro cerco di non ferire le maniche delle mie camicie lasciandole intrappolate nell’anta dell’armadio, sposto una giacca da uno scomparto all’altro se ho l’impressione che potrebbe non avere spazio a sufficienza per respirare, cerco di percepire le simpatie dei pantaloni per le magliette in modo da metterli vicini. Apro il mio armadio e ci intravedo un salotto affollato, con il brusio bello e avvolgente che cerchiamo nei locali, quando ceniamo o ci tratteniamo per bere qualcosa.
E questo è quello che mi fa amare la lettura: il fatto di poterne trarre nuovi sguardi anche verso le cose più “ordinarie”. Così ci si arricchisce e si aggiungono sempre nuovi tasselli al proprio puzzle.
